St. Joseph’s is celebrating some outstanding results of our Year 13 students today.
In the first year of so many new specifications, the results achieved today show that students and teachers have worked hard to step up to the mark to meet the demands of these new qualifications to ensure the highest possible standards are maintained.
We are very pleased with the increase in the proportion of top end grades (A* and A) with special thanks to Dylan, Megan, Leann, Tyannah, Luke, Molly, Sharuha, Anna, Daniel and Mari, our top 10 students who achieved an outstanding 32 A* and A grades between them.
Almost three-quarters of the grades achieved by our students were between A* and C. These high standards will provide an excellent foundation for students as they progress confidently to university, further training and the world of work. This year we see over 95% of students who have applied to university already achieving success in obtaining a place, with the vast majority at their first-choice institution. We have seen a large number of students gain places at Russell Group and other local universities for a wide variety of courses.
Many other students have achieved the required grades to move into apprenticeships, further training and employment, with many successfully obtaining Higher Apprenticeship places at TATA Steel, Port Talbot.
“I would like to congratulate our students and staff on all their hard work throughout the year. It is delightful to see so many students in today with happy faces and being excited about their next steps. We wish them all the very best.” (Eugene Scourfield, Headteacher)
