We will be holding two transition days at St Joseph’s before the end of this term. These days aim to provide you with more information on entry processes, give you the opportunity to discuss subject choices, experience some taster lessons, observe the school day in action and ask any questions you may have. Below is the link to the Eventbrite page where you can book your tickets for either Tuesday 25th June 2019 or Tuesday 2nd July 2019. Please select the day you wish to attend from the page. Both days will be identical so you would only need to attend one day. It is open to all applicants (both internal and external to St Joseph’s). The days will begin at 9am and finish at approx. 1pm.
Use the link below to register for a place on either day:
Below are the provisional ‘Option Blocks’ for September 2019. While they are provisional at this point, we hope that there is sufficient choice to suit the vast majority of students. Also below is a ‘Curriculum Pathways’ document that provides more guidance on how many subjects you should be thinking about taking and the combinations. Any questions you may have about these can be discussed at the Transition Days. It is important to remember that university entry requirements are very flexible with regards subject choices when it comes to making offers and we can talk about these on an individual basis. We will advise you on subject choices based on your GCSE profile and results.
There are also GCSE English and Mathematics resit options available for those wishing to pass or improve their grades and these are timetabled at the start of September. You may only choose one subject from each option block and if you wish to study Double Health and Social Care, you must also take Single Health & Social Care (i.e. both Option B and D). The Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate must be selected by all students in Year 12 from one of the available option columns.
As always if you have any questions please feel free to contact the school over the next few months. There will also be Mrs Gow (Head of Sixth Form) and other senior staff available at the school on GCSE Results Day (Thursday 22nd August) if you have any questions after your results.
