Congratulations to our students and teachers for their outstanding achievements as we celebrate a year of excellent A level results!

What a fantastic morning at St Joseph’s! We’re so proud of all our Year 13 students who have achieved some outstanding results in their A-Level and Level 3 courses.

This year we have seen 84% of Level 3 entries achieving grades between A* – C and 43% of these grades being either A* or A. Our programmes to challenge and support our more able and talented students, including those engaged in The Seren Network is evidently working well. The Welsh Government flagship qualification – the Welsh Baccalaureate, continues to provide students with the skills and experiences for higher education and the world of work with nearly 40% of grades in the Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate being at A* and A grade.

We are confident that this year nearly 100% of our students wishing to attend university will be successful – the vast majority at their first choice institution. We have seen a large number of students gain places at Russell Group and other local universities whether that be in Cardiff, Swansea, Bristol, London, Edinburgh, Liverpool, London and many more, apprenticeships at Neath Port Talbot Council, Tata Steel Port Talbot and further field; or employment locally, nationally or internationally!

“I am immensely proud of the hard work and dedication that our students and their teachers have put in to achieve these excellent results. After so much disruption over the last two years, the exceptional work of the class of 2022 shows how perseverance and commitment can realise such outstanding outcomes. Providing the young people of Neath Port Talbot with high quality sixth form education has always been a special privilege for St. Joseph’s and it was a great pleasure to see so many happy faces today.” (James Torrance, Assistant Headteacher)

Our highest achieving students include Lowri Williams, Kiera Watkins, Anton Wachowiak, Michal Myslicki, Jacob Mapp, Daisy Jones, Ffion James, Josie Evans, Ffion Dobson, Lewis Davies, Kacey Davies, Eden Davies and Ben Condon who between them achieved 24A*, 18A and 12B grades.

“I would like to congratulate our students and staff on all their hard work throughout the year and I wish the students well as they embark on their next steps towards achieving their dreams and aspirations for the future.” (Eugene Scourfield, Headteacher)

Our Year 12 students have also performed exceptionally well in the AS examinations and we look forward to welcoming them back as Year 13 in September!
